“Someone else will be inspired by the part of your story you’re ashamed of.”- Nakiea Homer
One thing that I’ve noticed across the board is the difficulty that we have enforcing boundaries with those around us. I believe it’s because we’ve been socialized, since childhood, to please those around us regardless of how that makes us feel. Then as adults with poor boundaries, we often have internal struggles that could be completely avoided, self- loathe, struggle making real connections with those around us, and moving to the next level in our lives.
Just a girl from the projects who decided not to settle is a phrase Nakeia uses to share her story. She believes that behind every dope woman is a story only she can tell. As a writer, speaker, mentor, and writing consultant, Nakeia’s story, her words and her hustle has made her a great resource for women. Her music has found its way to the top of the Billboard Charts, and her work as a victim’s advocate has helped hundreds of women, children, and families find safe havens and stability.
Based in Atlanta, GA, Nakeia has become a master at turning life’s toughest lessons into blessings. She speaks and hosts inspiring conversations about goal setting, self-care, healing, women’s empowerment, and storytelling.
